Our founding story.

Aaron Wildig, OPN co-founder
Aaron Wildig playing for Newport County
Newport County

Aaron Wildig spent fifteen years inside the game. He saw what was missing, and decided to build it.

Cardiff City, Shrewsbury Town, Morecambe, Newport County: hundreds of appearances, and the same thing at every club. The people around him cared, but the information about him was scattered: GPS in one app, medical history in a filing cabinet, wellness in a WhatsApp message. When he moved clubs, none of it moved with him.

He watched teammates miss out on moves, not because they weren't good enough, but because the clubs looking at them couldn't see the evidence.

So Aaron, his brother Toby and Emily Fenton set out to build the opposite: one record per player that the club works from and the player owns. That record is the Digital Athlete Passport. OPN is the system of record built around it.

The people building it.

Founders from inside the game, and the engineers building it day to day.

Where it started

Aaron, Toby and Emily sit down with a shared frustration. Months of conversations with people across the game point to one answer: a digital passport the player owns and a system of record the club works from. The idea for OPN is born.
