PFA Expands Pre-Season Camp to 12 Weeks, Adds First WSL and WSL2 Programme
The PFA has expanded its pre-season training camp for out-of-contract players to 12 weeks and introduced dedicated WSL and WSL2 camps for the first time, with OPN continuing as official camp partner.

The Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) has announced an expansion of its pre-season training camp for out-of-contract players, extending the programme from 10 to 12 weeks and introducing dedicated camps for WSL and WSL2 players for the first time.
Since launching in the 2022/23 season, PFA pre-season has helped hundreds of free agents land new deals, offering daily on-pitch training, strength and conditioning, friendly fixtures, and wellbeing support during the off-season. This year’s programme runs from 29 June to 16 September 2026, with new regional top-up sessions at Edge Hill University and Bisham Abbey, and dedicated WSL/WSL2 camps beginning the weeks of 15 and 22 July, following the WSL2 turning fully professional for 2025/26.
OPN continues as official camp partner, giving attending players access to performance analytics throughout the programme and hosting a digital transfer marketplace connecting free agents with clubs and scouts.
OPN co-founder Aaron Wildig said: “Throughout my career, I’ve seen how talented players can miss out on opportunities simply because clubs don’t have the full picture. By combining the PFA Transfer List with a player’s Digital Athlete Passport, we’re helping clubs find the right talent faster, while giving players greater visibility and control over their own careers during what can often be an uncertain time.”
